We led the concept, brand identity and launch PR for Bombies - a 70s inspired rooftop bar that channels surf culture’s golden era.
The Harbord Hotel had a rooftop going to waste. We turned it into one of the Northern Beaches’ most anticipated new venues, and named it while we were at it.
Bombies didn’t exist until Example created it. Tasked with transforming the rooftop level of the iconic Harbord Hotel in Freshwater, we developed the concept, the name, the positioning, and the visual identity for a 70s-inspired beach bar and music venue that channels surf culture’s golden age. The name came from the break, a nod to the bombs that roll in off Freshwater Beach.
From brand strategy to press approach, every decision was grounded in one idea: this part of Sydney has always had a culture worth celebrating, and Bombies would be where locals do it.
A new venue that feels like it’s always been there. That’s the hardest kind to build, and the most valuable kind to own.
