We designed the concept for a layered Japanese dining precinct.
Japan has 47 prefectures, each with its own food culture, craft, and character. The brief was to distil all of them, authentically, into a single heritage warehouse in Sydney’s CBD.
Prefecture 48 is a multi-venue Japanese dining hub set in a heritage-listed Victorian warehouse in the CBD, six distinct concepts under one roof, each rooted in a specific regional Japanese food tradition. The project required thinking that could hold both the individual venues and the overarching precinct idea together without either one losing its edge.
Example led the full strategic and creative development: defining each venue’s USP, shaping their individual identities, and building the visual language and guest experience that holds the whole precinct together. The work began before a single fit-out was underway, which is exactly when this kind of thinking matters most.
